The D.C. Everest High School baseball team is red hot heading to the playoffs. The Evergreens finished the regular season with an 8th straight win, 2-1 over Menomonie, at Simon Field Friday afternoon. Aiden Haupt was good both on the mound and at the plate. The Wisconsin Valley Conference has announced their all-league team for the 2026 season today. Among the 1st Team selections are D.C. Everest junior Maddie Hoppe as Utility Player and Wausau West seniors Taylor Deffner as an infielder and Kaitlyn Butler at pitcher. In conference play this season, Hoppe hit .484 with 5 home runs and 18 RBI. Hoppe had 14 home runs overall this season, setting a new single-season school home run record. For the second time this season Kaden Kolodziej tossed a no-hitter as the Mosinee baseball team beat Abbotsford/Colby 13-0 in 5 innings in a Division 2 regional semifinal on Thursday. Kolodziej struck out 8 while walking 6 in the game. Mosinee did most of their damage in the 3rd and 4th innings when they scored six times in each frame. The D. C. Everest baseball team secured second place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference standings after sweeping a doubleheader from Wausau East on Thursday. The Evergreens won the opener 13-3 and then took the nightcap 5-0. In the opener the Evergreens scored multiple runs in each of the first five innings. Everest started Tuesday but will finish Wednesday after the rain and thunderstorms arrived in the 5th inning with the Evergreens leading the Warriors 5-0.
