The WIAA State Girl's Tennis Tournament was held this weekend at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison with D.C. Everest's Doubles team of Brynn Kampmann and Athena Thor and the Evergreens' singles' performer Mikaela Hawley in the D-1 event while Newman Catholic's Evelyn Herdrich was in the Division 2 singles' tourney. The WIAA announced the official football playoff brackets for all 7 11-player divisions Saturday morning in a program airing on television stations throughout the state. Among the 224 teams moving forward to next Friday's Level 1 games are Wausau West and D.C. Everest in Division 1, Wausau East in Division 2, and Marathon and Edgar in Division 6. The WIAA has announced the brackets for the state playoffs that begin next week and the area teams know their road to the state tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay. The regionals begin in Divisions 2 to 5 on Tuesday while Division 1 begins on Thursday. In Division 1, D.C. Everest and Wausau East will be very familiar foes. The Evergreens and Lumberjacks finish the regular season on Thursday in the WVC finale and will meet again next Thursday in a regional semifinal.
