Softball: Day 2 of DCE Invite has hosts split while Merrill wins twice and Marshfield once.
Day two of the D.C. Everest Softball Invitational saw the hosts split a pair of games while Merrill got their season off to a good start with two one-run wins and Marshfield also earned a victory in their one game. The Evergreens started the day off with a 10-3 loss to Neenah. Softball: Day 1 at DCE Invite, host Evergreens win season opener while Wausau West, Wausau East go 0-2.
The temperature didn't reach the freezing mark on Friday but the 2026 softball season got underway, indoors, at the DCE Invitational at the Greenheck-Turner Community Center. Day 1 of the 2 day event saw Wausau West and Wausau East play twice while the host D.C. Everest played once. Wausau West started their season with a 5-3 loss to D-1 10th ranked Neenah in a game broadcast on the Wausau Area Sports YouTube channel. The Warriors got RBI hits from Breanne Bushong and Taylo

Boys Track and Field: Wausau West finishes 2nd while Newman Catholic 4th at West Small Invite on Thursday.
The Wausau West boys' track and field team finished second behind Shawano with Newman Catholic 4th at the 10 team West Small School Invitational at the West Fieldhouse on Thursday. West finished with 140.5 points while Shawano racked up 209 to win the meet. Edgar was third with 75.5 points while Newman Catholic took fourth with 59 and Abbotsford fifth with 41. Girls Track & Field: Wausau West and Newman Catholic lead the field at Wausau West Small Invite.
The Wausau West girls' Track and Field team earned their second team title of the week by taking first place on Thursday at the West Small School Invitational. The Warriors led with 159.5 points while Newman Catholic finished second in the 10 team field with 123 points. Shawano took 3rd with 100 points and Edgar was 4th with 54.5 points. Individually, Sophomore Yarianna Smith was a double winner as she won the 200 meters for West in 31.05 seconds and also took first place
