The road to the state tournament in Appleton has been plotted for the Wausau area Division 1 baseball teams with the WIAA postseason bracket released. D.C. Everest receives a 6 seed in the sectional 1 bracket while Wausau West is seeded 13 and Wausau East 14 for the playoffs that start next Tuesday, June 2nd. Following a pair of one run losses earlier this week, the Mosinee baseball team took their frustrations out on Lakeland Thursday. Mosinee 7 runs in each of the 3rd and 4th innings and beat the Thunderbirds 19-3. Each of the top four batters in the lineup had at least four hits for Mosinee. It was the 2nd straight one run loss in the past two days for Mosinee after a 10 game winning streak. The D.C. Everest softball team scored 10 times in the 3rd inning and went on to beat Wausau East 13-3 in 5 innings in Wisconsin Valley Conference action on Tuesday night. Maddie Hoppe extended her school single-season home run mark with her 14th of the season as part of the big inning. Wausau West starting pitcher Ty Teske was nearly flawless in tossing a 2-hit shutout while striking out 10 to lead the Warriors to a 4-0 win over crosstown rival Wausau East on Tuesday in a game that was broadcast live on the Wausau Area Sports YouTube channel. The Wisconsin Valley Conference held it's outdoor Track and Field Meet at Wausau East on Monday with D.C. Everest winning the boys' title while Stevens Point won the girls' meet. With the seedings for the upcoming WIAA softball playoffs announced over the weekend, one aspect of Monday's Great Northern Conference showdown between Mosinee and Medford was taken off the table.
