Despite pitcher Kaitlyn Butler allowing no earned runs in 9 innings, the Wausau West softball team couldn't overcome five errors in a 5-3 extra inning loss to Marshfield on the Warriors' Senior Day on Tuesday. The Tigers never trailed in the game and scored twice in the top of the 9th inning to win it.

After Marshfield scored twice in the top of the first inning, West got one back in the bottom half of the inning on a two-out RBI single by Jaidyn Calmes to score Breanne Bushong, who had singled to start the inning. West would score on a Marshfield error in the 3rd to tie the game at 2.

Arianna Pugh hit an RBI single in the top of the 6th inning to regain the lead for Marshfield at 3-2 but West got a big two-out RBI single from Jenna Graveen in the bottom of the inning to get back to even at 3-3. However, that would be the last hit of the game for the Warriors.

Marshfield got the winning runs in the top of the 9th as the Tigers used a leadoff error to spark the winning rally. With two out Lillian Griesbach would double home two runs to give the Tigers a 5-3 lead. That was enough for Marshfield pitcher Molly Fox, who would retire West in order in the bottom of the 9th to end the game. Both Fox and Butler were outstanding was Fox allowed just 1 run while striking out 12. None of the 5 runs Butler allowed were earned as she went the distance with 2 strikeouts and no walks. Jaidyn Calmes had a pair of hits and an RBI for West, who finishes the Wisconsin Valley Conference season at 4-6 and are 10-13 overall as they wait for the release of the Division 1 playoff brackets later this week to find out their next opponent when the postseason starts next week.
