A very tough first two innings ultimately was too much for the Mosinee baseball team, who fell at Merrill 6-5 in Great Northern Conference action on Monday. The loss snaps a 10 game winning streak for Mosinee.

Merrill got off to a fast start by scoring twice in the 1st inning and 3 more times in the 2nd. Connor Josiger had a two RBI single in the first inning while Cole Rudie added a two-run single in the 2nd as the Bluejays built their lead.

Mosinee would come charging back with 5 runs in the 4th. Sebastian Andersen singled home a run to put Mosinee on the board. Kaden Kolodziej would add an RBI double and the final two runs of the frame would come in on wild pitches.

It would stay 5-5 until the bottom of the 7th. Cam Wallin led off with a walk for Merrill. He advanced to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt and to 3rd base on a single by Alex Koblitz. Erik Grunenwald would then end it with a single to center field and give Merrill the 6-5 win. Merrill improves to 9-11 with their second straight win while Mosinee is now 12-6. Merrill travels to Auburndale on Tuesday while Mosinee is back in action at Northland Pines.
