Baseball: Big 5th and 6th innings lead D.C. Everest to win at Wisconsin Rapids

5 runs in the 5th inning and 3 more runs in the 6th lead the D.C. Everest baseball team to a 8-4 win in Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday. 7 of the 9 D.C. Everest starters had at least one hit including two hits each from Ryan Schulz and Cade Felch.
After Rapids took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the 4th, the Evergreens sent 10 batters to the plate in the 5th to take the lead. Rapids hurt themselves with 3 errors in the inning. After the Red Raiders scored three times in the bottom of the 5th to pull back to within 5-4, Everest responded with three runs of their own in the top of the 6th. Cade Felch singled in one run while Maddox Wyro drove in another on a bases loaded walk and the third run came in on an error. Rapids had two more errors in the inning and six total errors in the game.
Carter Miller was the winning pitcher for Everest, going 4 1/3 innings while allowing 4 runs on 7 hits with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Evergreens with their third straight game to improve to 11-8 overall and are now 7-5 in the WVC. Everest will host Wisconsin Rapids at Simon Field on Thursday.
