D.C. Everest got stellar pitcher from Cade Felch and two relievers to shut out Marshfield 2-0 in Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball at Simon Field on Tuesday. Felch went the first 5 innings and allowed just 3 hits while walking 5. Caden Allen and Maddux Wyro each tossed a hitless inning as Everest starts a busy week with a win.

Everest broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the 4th with Felch helping his own cause. Felch singled to left field and drove in Cole Van Slyke, who had started the inning with a walk, to put the Evergreens ahead. It stayed 1-0 until the bottom of the 6th when DCE got a little insurance. After the first two batters were retired, Hayden Grezenski singled. Grezenski then advanced to 2nd base on a wild pitch and stole 3rd base. Grezenski scored on an infield single by Cooper Richie to make it 2-0.

Everest moves ahead of Marshfield into 2nd place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference at 5-2 with the win. Marshfield is now 6-3. It will be a big Wednesday for the Evergreens as they will host 1st place SPASH in the completion of a suspended game followed by the make up of a rain out.

Wausau East falls to Wisconsin Rapids 18-0 in 5 innings on the Lumberjacks home field on Tuesday. Rapids blew the game open with an 11 run 5th inning where all 11 runs were unearned. James Dennis had the only hit for East, who fall to 1-9 in the WVC. East will travel to Wisconsin Rapids for the return match up on Thursday.
