Softball: Wausau Post 10 gets Grand Slam from Jaidyn Calmes and 3 Run HR from Taylor Deffner in win over Marathon.

The Wausau Post 10 softball team got a grand slam home run from Jaidyn Calmes plus a homer and 5 RBI from Taylor Deffner in a 20-7 win over Marathon Post 469 on Wednesday night in a game broadcast on the Wausau Area Sports YouTube channel. It finishes a good week for the Patriots, who games against Fall Creek and Thorp on Tuesday.

Wausau took charge in the 1st inning with 10 runs. Calmes hit the grand slam plus Brooklyn Freiberg added a 3 run triple in the inning. Wausau would add 5 spots in both the 2nd and 4th innings. Calmes, Deffner, Breanne Bushong and Claire Gille each had two hits in the game for Wausau. Adriana Bodner was the winning pitcher by going the first three innings while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits with 5 strikeouts.

Danica Staus went 2 for 3 for Marathon with an RBI while Paige Martin, Natalie Sonnentag and Mayven Schneider each had one hit. Marathon drops to 1-2 on the season while Wausau is now 3-1. Wausau will host Merrill on Tuesday while Marathon travels to Crandon.
