Both Wausau East's Adriana Bodner and Wausau West's Kaitlyn Butler were nearly flawless in the circle on Thursday but, in the end, it was Butler and the Warriors beating the Lumberjacks 4-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game at Wausau West.

West got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Nora Hintz led off with a single, moved to second on a ground out and make it to third on a passed ball with one out. Breanne Bushong then grounded back to Bodner and Hintz scored to make it 1-0. West added another run in the 4th inning when Taylor Deffner reached on an error and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Taylor Murkowski.

East would get one run back in the top of the 5th. With one out, Kaylen Majewski reached on an error and scored on an RBI single Addi Steinke to cut the West lead to 2-1. The Warriors got some insurance in the 5th when they again took advantage of a Lumberjack error. With two out, Jaidyn Oelke single in a pair of runs to make it 4-1.

Both Bodner and Butler pitched complete games without allowing an earned run. Bodner went 6 innings and allowed just 3 hits while walking 1 and striking out none. Butler went all 7 innings for West, giving up 8 hits and the lone unearned run with three walks and 5 strikeouts. Bodner also had a pair of hits for East and Taylor Dykstra also added two hits for the Lumberjacks.

West will try to make it three wins in a row this week on Friday when they host Pacelli. That game will be broadcast live on the Wausau Area Sports YouTube channel starting with the pregame at 4:15 pm and first pitch set for 4:30.
