Softball roundup: DC Everest uses 11 run inning to top East. Marathon earns big win over Stratford. Mosinee continues winning run. Newman falls to Edgar.

After trailing by a run heading to the third inning, the D.C.Everest softball team exploded for 11 run in the top of third and went on to beat Wausau East 21-7 on Tuesday. Piper Schulz had four hits and 3 RBI for Everest (8-5 overall, 3-2 WVC) while Maddie Hoppe added three hits, a home run and 5 RBI. Mara Meverden and Ava Hahn each had three hits as well. Adriana Bodner was 3 of 3 with a pair of RBI for the Lumberjacks (1-10, 0-5 WVC).


Allison Podjaski tossed a 2 hitter with 10 strikeouts to lift Marathon past Stratford 2-0 in a Marawood-South showdown at County Materials Sports Complex. Rehgan Martin and Brinly Stencil drove in the runs to lift the Red Raiders. Tria Tubbs was good in the circle for Stratford, going six innings and allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 8. Marathon is 5-0 in the Marawood-South while Stratford drops to 4-1.


Also in the Marawood-South it was Edgar shutting down Newman Catholic 10-0 in 5 innings. A 5 run 4th inning blew the game open for the Wildcats. Jorja Knetter had two hits for Edgar while Annie Kolodziej gave up no runs on 4 hits with 6 strikeouts and no walks in five innings. Brianna Schulz was 2 of 2 for the Cardinals.


The Mosinee softball team continues their winning ways with a 10-0 win over Lakeland in 5 innings on Tuesday to improve to 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the Great Northern Conference. Paetyn Jirschele, Brooklyn Simonis and Pacyn Stoffel each had two hits for Mosinee while Ava Busse tossed five shutout innings while striking out 9 and walking 1 in recording the shutout.
