In a battle of Wisconsin Valley Conference contenders, the Marshfield softball team scored 4 times in the top of the 8th inning to win at D.C. Everest 7-3. Marshfield jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning but Everest got one back on a Maddie Hoppe RBI single in the bottom of the frame to make it 2-1. It was 3-1 Marshfield when the Evergreens got a power surge in the bottom of the 5th. First it was Piper Schulz drilling a home run to center field to cut the deficit to 3-2. Hoppe was the next batter and immediately tied the game with a home run to left field on the first pitch.

It would stay tied until the top of the 8th. A one out walk put the lead run on base and then Lillian Griesbach would hit an RBI double to give the Tigers the lead. Marshfield got some insurance on a three-run homer by Avery Kelnhofer to finish the scoring. Hoppe finished 3 for 4 with 3 RBI for the Evergreens, who fall to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the WVC. Marshfield is now the only unbeaten left in the conference at 3-0.

Also in the Valley on Tuesday it was Wisconsin Rapids topping Wausau East 16-2 in 5 innings. Rapids took charge early with 4 runs in the first and 6 more in the 2nd. Claire Gille had an RBI single for the Lumberjacks.

In the Great Northern Conference Mosinee rolled past Rhinelander 19-0 in 5 innings. Paetyn Jirschele was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, 6 RBI and 4 runs scored, Pacyn Stoffel was 3 of 3 with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored and Briley Kaczor was 2 of 3 with a homer and 3 RBI. Ava Busse (3 IP, 6 K's) and Stoffel (2 IP, 3 K's) combined on a no-hitter.
