Softball: Beilke-Seubert strikes out 12 to lead Marathon past Newman Catholic.

Pitcher Tyla Beilke-Seubert struck out 12 while allowing just 5 hits and an unearned run to lift Marathon past Newman Catholic 11-1 in six innings in Marawood-South softball on Thursday at Sunnyvale Park in Wausau. Beilke-Seubert also allowed just one walk improving Marathon to 4-0 in the conference and 9-1 overall.
Danica Staus and Rehgan Martin hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the 1st inning to spark Marathon to a 3-0 lead. Martin added an RBI groundout in the 3rd to extend the Raider lead to 4-0. After a pair of passed balls led to runs in the 4th and 5th to make it 6-0, Sophia Conn hit an RBI double to score Mylee Haehlke in the 5th to put Marathon up 7-0. Later in the inning Mayven Schneider had an RBI single followed by Staus hitting her second RBI double of the game to make it 9-0.
The Cardinals score in the bottom of the 5th as Madison Keene singled in Brianna Schulz to make it 11-1. Marathon would complete the scoring in the 6th on run scoring hits by Allison Podjaski and Haehlke. Podjaski would finish 3 for 4 on the day while Staus, Haehlke and Ripley Skrzypchak each had two hits. Keene and Schulz each had two hits for Newman, who are 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
