Softball: 4 Mosinee players earn 1st Team all-Great Northern Conference honors.

The Great Northern Conference has announced their all-league team for the 2026 season with Mosinee and Medford dominating the 1st Team. Mosinee had four players earn 1st Team all-GNC honors. Taelyn Jirschele, Paetyn Jirschele, Addyson Henrich and Megan Treu all were selected 1st Team.


Taelyn Jirschele led the GNC in batting with a .692 average with an amazing 27 hits in 39 at bats during the league season. The senior also had 9 home runs, 29 RBI and 13 stolen bases in league play this season. Paetyn Jirschele also had incredible numbers as the sophomore had a .659 batting average and led the conference in hits with 29 and RBI with 31. Henrich a junior, shared the conference home run title with her teammate with 9 while hitting .571 with 26 RBI. Treu, a sophomore, had a stellar .489 batting average and drove in 20 runs in GNC play this season.


Other first team all-GNC were Medford's Rylee Hraby, Zayleah Leonhardt, Finley Arndt and Addison Brahmer; Antigo's Breleigh Akright and Emma Beck; Merrill's Mackenzie Herdt and Tomahawk's Averi Petta.


Earning 2nd Team all-GNC from Mosinee were seniors Ava Busse and Briley Kaczor. Busse had a 7-2 pitching record with an outstanding ERA of 1.40 with 41 strikeouts in 40 innings. Kaczor had a .432 batting average with 2 homers and 12 RBI.


Receiving Honorable Mention for Mosinee were seniors Emily Verhasselt and Brooklyn Simonis plus freshman Allyson Timm. Verhasselt hit .400 with 13 RBI while Simonis had a .345 batting average with a homer and 12 RBI and Timm had a 3-0 pitching record with an ERA of 1.00.
