Boys golf: Wausau East's Krambs falls in a playoff for final spot at state tournament in sectional.

It proved to be a tough day for Wausau area golfers at the Division 1 sectional tournament at RiverEdge Golf Course in Marshfield. In the team competition, where the top two teams earn spots at next week's state tournament, D.C. Everest finished 4th and Wausau East 8th. Individually, where the top three golfers not part of the teams that qualify earn spots at state, Wausau East's Sawyer Krambs came closest by fell in a playoff for the final state slot.

In the team competition it was Hudson and River Falls earning the top two spots and qualifying their teams to state. Hudson had a team score of 304 while River Falls carded 318. New Richmond was 3rd at 319, Everest 4th with a team score of 327, Wisconsin Rapids 5th at 330, Menomonie 6th with 332, SPASH 7th at 333 and Wausau East 8th at 334.

In the individual tournament, River Falls Ryan Swanson was the meet medalist with a 2 under par 70. The top three golfers not part of the Hudson or River Falls teams qualified for the state tournament with 3rd overall with a 74 and SPASH's Easton Kitowski 5th with a 76. The third individual spot came down to a playoff between Wausau East's Sawyer Krambs and Tegan Lachaussie. Lachaussie won the playoff and kept Krambs from a 2nd straight state tournament appearance. It ends an outstanding high school career for the Lumberjack senior, who was the individual Wisconsin Valley Conference champion each of the last two years.
