Kaden Kolodziej tossed six strong innings to help the Mosinee baseball team snap a Great Northern Conference losing streak with a 10-0 win over Merrill in 6 innings on Thursday. Kolodziej gave up just 2 hits while striking out 8 and walking 3 to earning the shutout.
The game was tight for 3 1/2 innings as Mosinee led just 1-0 after scoring in the bottom of the first inning as Tyler Baars, who had doubled, scored on a Treve Stoffel groundout. Mosinee blew the game open with a six run 4th inning. The flood gates opened with a 2 run double by Aiden Laurila to make it 3-0. Baars then hit an RBI single, Stoffel an RBI double and Carter Fandrey an RBI single to extend the advantage to 6-0. A wild pitch scored Stoffel for the 6th run of the inning. Merrick Brod and Baars had RBI singles in the 5th and Mosinee finished off the 10-run rule game in the 6th when Kolodziej was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to end the game.
Tyler Baars was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Kolodziej, Laurila, Noah Zebro and Sebasien Andersen each added 2 hits for Mosinee. Cooper Wendorf and Noah Klug had the only hits for Merrill.
