Baseball recaps: Marathon wins a pair against different opponents while Mosinee rolls past Medford in GNC action.

The Marathon baseball team had a doubleheader on Friday but not against one opponent. The Red Raiders first beat Prentice 6-1 in the late afternoon and then, under the lights, used a 12 run 4th inning to rout Spencer 19-5 in five innings.


In the win vs. Prentice, Blake McCain was 2 of 3 with a pair of RBI while Ean Shuda tossed a complete game allowing just 1 run on 5 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.


In the second game, Marathon spotted Spencer 2 runs in the first inning but then scored the nex 19. Marathon scored three times in the 1st, 2 runs in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings and then pushed 12 runs across in the bottom of the 4th. Marathon is now 11-3 overall and will travel to Auburndale for a Marawood-South battle on Tuesday.


Sebastien Andersen homer in the first inning to set the tone for Mosinee in an 11-1 win over Medford in a Great Northern Conference game on Friday. Treve Stoffel and Carter Fandrey each singled with one out in the bottom of the 1st inning when Andersen drove a ball over the left field fence for a three-run shot that put Mosinee on the board. Mosinee added 3 runs in the second and were not threatened the rest of the way. Stoffel went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI and 3 runs scored Fandrey also had three hits and scored twice. Andersen, Tyler Baars and Kaden Kolodziej all added two hits and Kolodziej was the winning pitcher after going the first 5 innings and allowing just 1 run on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks. Mosinee has now won three straight games and will host River Falls on Saturday.
