Early on it looked like an easy win for the D.C. Everest baseball team The Evergreens jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings only to see River Falls come storming back before Everest pulled off a rally of their own in the 7-6 win at Simon Field.

Everest was still leading 5-0 heading into the top of the 6th inning when River Falls came alive, sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring 6 runs to take the lead. Everest got back to even in the bottom of the inning when Zach Doepke walked with the bases loaded with two out to make it 6-6. It was the third time in the game the Evergreens drew a bases loaded walk to force in a run.

After River Falls was retired in the top of the 7th, Ty Rohde led off the bottom of the frame with a walk. Rohde advanced to 2nd on a Cooper Richie sacrifice bunt and scored the game winning run on an RBI single by Cole Van Slyke. The game winning hit ended a big game for Van Slyke, who was 3 of 4 with 2 RBI on the day. The win finishes a very good week for Everest, who earned a big Wisconsin Valley Conference win over SPASH on the road Thursday. Everest is back in action on Monday vs. Merrill before returning to WVC play on Tuesday at Wausau West in a game that will be broadcast live on the Wausau Area Sports YouTube channel.
