Football: Week 5 Wausau Area Sports "Honor Roll"

Week 5 Wausau Area Sports "Honor Roll" for some of the top performances on the gridiron on Friday night:

Tristan Gast (D.C. Everest): The DCE running back carried the ball only 9 times but gained 119 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Evergreens 71-7 beat down of Eau Claire North at Stiehm Stadium.

D.C. Everest Defense: The defense isn't the first thing that comes to mind when a team scores 71 points. However, the Evergreens' defense did a lot to help the offense toward that point total. Everest scored three defensive touchdowns (one on a fumble return by Cal Olafson and two on interception returns by Will Hopper and Clayton Bouffleuer) while forcing 5 Eau Claire North turnovers.

Brayson Schneider (Marathon): The sophomore quarterback continued his solid play with 3 touchdowns passes on a 9 of 15 night with 186 yards in the Red Raiders' 34-0 victory over Colby to improve to 4-1 on the season.

Koltyn Stevens (Marathon): Another Red Raiders' sophomore that has impressed during the first half of the season had another stat-filling night against Colby. Stevens had 12 tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception in the game and is averaging more than 10 tackles per game this season.

Christian Kelly (Wausau East): On a tough night for the Lumberjacks in a Great Northern Conference loss vs. Medford, the sophomore recorded 10 tackles with 7 solo stops.

Aiden Thao (Wausau West): Thao recorded his third interception of the season in stopping a Stevens Point drive in the second quarter of the Warriors loss to SPASH.

Landon Timm (Mosinee): Timm was impressive on both sides of the ball in Mosinee's 13-0 loss at Merrill. Timm made six tackles with five of them solo stops on defense and carried the ball 20 times for 70 yards on offense.

Jude Zielinski (Newman Catholic): The junior wide receiver caught a 34 yard touchdown pass from Michael Fox and had three catches for 52 yards in the Cardinals' loss to Alma Center Lincoln.
