Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point started Tuesday night undefeated and tied for first in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Tuesday ended with no league unbeatens and a new leader after Wausau West topped Wisconsin Rapids 2-1 and D.C. Everest shutout SPASH 3-0. Wausau East also earned their first WVC win of the season after beating Marshfield 2-0.

All three WVC games saw plenty of rain, whether in Weston, Wausau or Wisonsin Rapids. At the D.C. Everest Middle School in Weston, the Evergreens exploded for three goals in an 8 minute span early in the 2nd half to blow open the game and beat SPASH 3-0. Everest got on the board in the 48th minute when Will Sjoberg placed a corner kick into the SPASH box where Christian Cale right-footed it into the back of the net to give the Evergreens a 1-0 lead. It did not take long for DCE to double the advantage as in the 50th minute Landon Wierzba curled a shot just inside the right post and it was 2-0 Everest. The Evergreens finished the scoring run in the 56th minute when ArJune Yang had a hard shot stopped but left a juicy rebound for Luke Auner, who bounded it home to make it 3-0. That goal puts Auner in the conference lead with 6 goals in WVC play so far this season. With the win, Everest moves into first place in the WVC with 12 points on a 4-2 league record. SPASH remains on 10 points with a 3-1-1 WVC mark but does have a game in hand on Everest.

Like SPASH, Wisconsin Rapids entered play on Tuesday at 3-0-1 in the conference but also lost for the first time in WVC play as Wausau West came into South Wood County Stadium and handed the Red Raiders a 2-1 defeat. The Warriors got on the board in the 19th minute as a feed into the Rapids box was deflected home by Jli Deegudtum for his 2nd conference goal of the season and West led 1-0. A fortunate break allowed Rapids to equalize just 8 minutes later. A Zach Mancl shot from outside the box was deflected past West goalkeeper Grayson Welsh to tie the game at 1. It would stay tied until early in the second half when Kaito Lor maneuvered away from three Wisconsin Rapids defenders to gain possession and fire past Rapids GK Hayden Piesek to puts the Warriors up 2-1 in the 50th minute. That was Lor's 5th goal in WVC play this season. West would maintain the advantage the rest of the way to put themselves into the conversation in the WVC race with 8 points and a 2-2-2 record. The Warriors get another crack at a first place team on Thursday when D.C. Everest visits Johnson Field for a match that will air live on Wausau Area Sports YouTube channel starting with the pregame at 6:50 pm and kickoff set for 7.

Also in WVC boys' soccer on Tuesday, Wausau East earned their first league win of the season with a 2-0 home victory over Marshfield on a rainy night. The Lumberjacks took very little time in taking a lead they wouldn't relinquish as Lincoln Holz scored in the 2nd minute of the game to put East up 1-0. The 'Jacks would double the lead before the end of the first half as, in the 30th minute, Jerrin Nikolai would score his 2nd WVC goal of the season and it was 2-0. East would go on the win 2-0 and move ahead of Marshfield into fifth place in the conference with a 1-3-2 record and 5 points. East will host SPASH on Thursday night.
