Boys soccer: D.C. Everest draws with Oshkosh West after allowing goal in final minute.

The D.C. Everest boys' soccer team was less than a minute from earning an opening night win over Oshkosh West but a goal in the final seconds forced the Evergreens to settle for a 1-1 tie on Tuesday. It was a very odd night as the game started outdoors at the D.C. Everest Middle School Soccer Complex but the thunderstorms that rolled through the area forced a venue change just before the midway point of the first half. The teams packed up and made the short trip indoors to the Greenheck-Turner Community Center to continue the game.

The game was scoreless until just past the halfway mark of the second half. In the 62nd minute Everest got on the board with a goal from Owen Sjoberg to take the lead. It looked like that would be enough for the Evergreens but Oshkosh West was able to get the equalizer with under 1 minute remaining in the game as Carson Choinski fired home the tying goal and pull out the draw for the Wildcats.

Everest is back on the pitch on Saturday at 12 noon when they host Neenah at the Everest Middle School Soccer Complex.
