Twice during the regular season the Wausau West boys' soccer team fell to D.C. Everest by two goals. On Tuesday night, the Warriors got a third chance at the Evergreens in a Division 1 regional semifinals with the third time being the charm as West edged Everest 2-1 to move forward in the playoffs. After Jayden Kufahl tied the game for the 3rd seeded Evergreens at 1 in the second half, West won it in spectacular style late in the half as Kaito Lor executed a perfect free kick into the path of Alber Hayek, who headed home the .game winner for the Warriors. West will now advance to a Division 1 regional final at 2nd seeded Eau Claire Memorial on Saturday.

In Division 2 it was another thriller as 4th seeded Wausau East topped 5th seeded Onalaska 2-1 in a game that was decided in penalty kicks. After a scoreless 1st half, the Lumberjacks got on the board just over 2 minutes into the second half as Abonde Msenwa used great touch in looping a shot from 25 yards out over the goalkeeper to give East a 1-0 lead. However, with just over 10 minutes remaining, Onalaska took advantage of a set piece opportunity, as a free kick just outside the penalty box Carter Flash fired a shot to the back of the net to even things up at 1. The game then remained deadlocked through the remainder of regulation and two 10 minute overtime periods. That led a shootout to decide the winner. Nikolaus Strand, Lucien Nkoranyi, Ben Peterson, Msenwa and Mathias Clements all were successful on their penalty kicks with East goalie Cayden Klemp-North stopping the 2nd Onalaska shot to give East a 5-3 win in the shootout. East advances to a game at top seeded New Richmond on Saturday. New Richmond beat 8th seeded River Falls 2-0.

Also in playoff soccer on Tuesday, in Division 4 9th seeded Newman Catholic fell to 8th seeded Regis/McDonell Central 5-3. Regis/McDonell came out flying with four first half goals to take control and withhold a Newman comeback.
