After spotting Stevens Point Post 6 a 4-0 lead after two innings, the Wausau Post 10 American Legion baseball team roared back to win 8-5 at Bukolt Park in the Firecracker Classic on Sunday afternoon. Wausau scored 4 times in the top of the 3rd inning and 3 more times in the 4th inning to turn the game around.

It was a tough beginning for Wausau starter Camdyn Rye as Stevens Point scored three times in the first and added one more run in the 2nd but the Wausau East incoming junior was able to settle down after that and went on to throw a complete game to earn the win. In the top of the 3rd Wausau got back to even with the help of some Stevens Point wildness on the mound. With one out, 3 straight Wausau batters were walked to bring up Carson Thurs. Thurs would single to score James Dennis and Davis Winter to cut the deficit in half at 4-2. Breck Blaubach would follow with the second of his four hits on the day, a single to center field, that scored Logan Glovinski and it was 4-3. An RBI groundout by Marshal Helke would tie the game at 4 after 2 1/2 innings.

Wausau would take the lead for good in the top of the 4th with three runs. Connor Lemirand and Iain Stahel would start the inning with singles and be sacrificed on a Dennis bunt to 2nd and 3rd with one out. Davis Winter singled to right to score Lemirand and give Post 10 the lead. Logan Glovinski followed with a single to left that scored Stahel to put Wausau up 6-4. Blaubach, with two out, singled to left to score Winter and make it 7-4 Bulldogs.

In the top of the 6th inning, Blaubach finished his outstanding day at the plate with a RBI single to left to extend the Wausau lead to 8-4. Stevens Point would score a run in the bottom of the inning but Rye would shut down Post 6 the rest of the way for Wausau to earn their third win of the Firecracker Classic in four games.

Blaubach finished 4 for 4 with 3 RBI while Stahel added 3 hits in 5 at bats for Wausau. Carson Thurs was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI as Wausau finished with 15 hits in the game. Rye went 7 innings on the mound giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on 9 hits with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Wausau improves to 9-16 on the season and returns to play Monday night vs. Marshfield.
